We might have overdone it today

We woke up to a beautiful (but windy!) morning here at Black Rock Canyon Campground at Joshua Tree National Park so we decided to take a hike. Please keep in mind that Jeff is the true hiker in our family, I just pretend to be one from time to time. One of my goals for this two-month adventure is to get more fit and gain more hiking stamina, so I started off with a bang today: 6.95 miles including an 1100 ft rise in elevation. I'm pretty sure I might regret this tomorrow when I probably won't be able to walk, but we sure saw some amazing views. We did the Panorama Loop and it was very aptly named. At the top (5190 ft) you can see a complete 360 degree vista, including the Big Bear ski resort and the faint outlines of the windmills near Palm Springs. My panorama photos don't begin to do it justice, but I still felt the need to post them. :-)

A tiny little glimpse of Audrey as we made our way back to camp

  1. Looks like you are having lots of fun. And it looks a lot warmer there than it is here! Jealous.

  2. Wow, Heather you didn't waste anytime getting on the road! Looks and sounds great.
