Sea Lions in Santa Cruz

We spent the day in Santa Cruz on Friday and had a great time! It's a nice little town with a fun downtown full of boutique shops, as well as a wharf that has sea lions (loved 'em!) and of course the Boardwalk (made famous in the movie The Lost Boys).

Sea lions look so graceful in the water

At the end of the Wharf the sea lions congregate in a "raft" and nap with their heads resting on each other.

Some of the sea lions also sleep under the wharf on the beams.

The sky gliders at the Boardwalk.

The University of California at Santa Cruz has a cool Arboretum area that features plant life from various places around the world. We took a nice 1.5 mile walk through the grounds and I snapped photos of some of the weird things we saw. [If you're on Google+ you can follow me on there for more photos if you're ever interested.]

I have no idea what this is, but I like it.

We ended it all up with a visit to a tattoo/piercing place so I could get a new ear piercing. Sorry, no pics of that yet - I'll have Jeff take one of me soon! We're now in San Simeon, further south on the California coast for a few days. We took a walk on the beach this afternoon and picked up rocks and shells (and of course took photos).  Tomorrow we're headed to Hearst Castle!

Tons of rocks on this beach in all colors.
